The tachograph card still displays the number of the driving licence it is associated with, but given that the licence must now be replaced at each renewal, both of the licence itself and of the CQC (Personal Certificate of Driving Permit), it is expected that renewal procedures will become more frequent, especially for holders over fifty.
It has therefore been decided that, on future renewed licenses (of any category), code 71 and the number of the previously held license will also be added to field 12. This will allow inspectors to verify the actual connection between the two documents, the license and the tachograph card, without burdening the driver with the additional burden of having to visit the Chamber of Commerce to simultaneously renew the other document at each license renewal.
PLEASE NOTE: In short, the driving licence can be renewed ONLY ONCE WHILE KEEPING THE SAME tachograph card. Otherwise, you must request a duplicate card from the Chamber of Commerce in your province of residence TO MODIFY DATA (in this case, the subsequent card will retain the expiration date of the previous one). However, the tachograph card can be renewed starting 30 days before its expiration date.
