After the successful initiative of last July 29th in Piazza Santi Apostoli in Rome, to raise awareness of the Government on the problems of the country, the Secretariats of Cgil Cisl Uil have decided to organize for the morning of the 1stSeptember 8th, a day of national mobilization entitled "Starting from Work". An event that will be characterized by regional initiatives throughout Italy.
In Emilia Romagna, it will be held in Bologna, in Piazza Nettuno, starting at 11:00 a.m. The closing speech will be given by the national secretary of the CISL confederation, Giorgio Graziani.
The motivations that led the three confederations to launch the initiative are well-known. The country today needs to rebuild its social fabric, which the Covid emergency has severely tested and continues to test, starting with the healthcare system. We need to start over with work, good work, where health and safety are ensured and where collective bargaining agreements, both public and private, are renewed—an essential condition for giving people value and dignity. Through work, we can restart our economy.
Unfortunately, the extension of social safety nets and the freeze on layoffs, which we strongly supported, will not produce the desired effects if the country is unable to restart with a plan and a vision that concretely addresses its actions on jobs and people, and consequently on the necessary reforms, starting with fiscal reform.
