The renewal visit must be carried out at a Local Medical Commission (CML) in the following cases,
- clinical situations that may raise doubts about the fitness to drive
- special licenses
- C or D driving licences, upon exceeding certain age limits (65 years for the C driving licence and 60 for the D driving licence).
If you fall into the first hypothesis and you have the doubt of no longer having, due to changes in your health condition or regulations (think of the elimination of the obligation to visit the CML for monoculars), or of having from scratch If you are required to renew your driving license with the Local Medical Commission (CML), you can visit our offices.
The CISL Car Practice Center, through its connection to the DMV data processing center, can verify, in the 4 months prior to the expiration of your license, using your surname and license number, whether the computer system requires you to renew your license at the Local Medical Commission (CML).
If the system does not require this, we recommend that you schedule an appointment as soon as possible, as the final decision on whether you can renew your license through self-certification remains with the certifying physician.
Otherwise, if you're required to renew your driving licence with the Medical Commission, go to a CUP office to schedule an appointment. Again, we recommend booking early, as the Medical Commission may have long waiting lists and schedule an appointment AFTER your driving licence expires.
If the Commission Secretariat does not have places available for the visit within the expiry date of the driving licence, the booking will be made for the visit beyond the validity period.

This permit is valid until the date of the medical appointment and can be issued only ONCE; it cannot be renewed if the Commission, during the medical examination, requires further medical checks to determine fitness to drive.
Please be especially careful to book the appointment before your license expires, as the permit cannot be issued if your license has already expired. In that case, you will not be able to drive until the CML has approved it.
