I would like to remember Melino with the words I used when, at the end of my mandate, I said goodbye to the Federation as Deputy Secretary General:
“I shared this final period of my experience at the Federation with Melino in the General Secretariat, a time marked by mutual respect, honesty, and esteem. I am grateful to him for never forcing things when our differing assessments and positions within the confederation (and never within the Federation) did not meet with agreement.
This meant respect, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas, in the belief that discussion is the Organization's wealth."
I would like to remember the open and sensitive leader, whom I called the Union Manager, with the letter he wrote to me at the conclusion of the administration of Naples, a mandate given to me, as he wished, by the National Executive of the Federation:
“The expressions of affection and gratitude have moved me and at the same time made me certain of the validity of your work and the spirit with which you have achieved the objectives set.”
Hi Melino, when we meet again, you'll ask me again:
“Shall we get the ball rolling?”
