Letter to Bullies
Dearest bullies, I am addressing you who, in the late afternoon of October 31st (this year stands for current year, I allow myself to clarify because those who praise Mussolini today give me the impression of being a little ignorant) tried to trample on the dignity of some very young women and men.
You tried and I repeat it, because I assure you that after the dismay, the pure and the disbelief You gave Him a strength that you can't even imagine. The strength of those who decide to live themselves with respect for themselves. I realize that this is a somewhat complex concept to elaborate for those who are not capable of living by accepting those who have the courage to face the world with peace, respect and freedom, recognizing in the other an individual of equal value.
You are certainly not stupid, since you can light a firecracker I think you can also face some kind of simple reasoning like: "What did I want to demonstrate with my gesture? To whom? To myself? To society? To them?" I would like to meet you to try to understand what you are hiding that is so fragile that it makes you act like perfect cowards. Yes, because after that you took to your heels and even quickly, bold praisers of a past that the civil, democratic, supportive forces of this city and the entire country will not allow to return.
But enough accusations only to you. As I said I would like to meet you, to tell you a little history and not only the one you read in school books. But stories of real life, of women and men who fought to defend the freedom of thought, of speech, of living and loving following their soul, and think about it, some died in the name of that freedom that with your gesture you make indecent.
You are ignorant because you “ignore”, which translated means “not being aware”. This is why I would like to meet you, to remedy a lack, because if these things happen, certainly some of the responsibility also lies with this society of which I am a part, which has granted you a “sense of unlimited freedom”, which has not taught you that “My freedom ends where yours begins”, but above all that for every action there is a reaction… for or against.
I'm waiting for you.
The General Secretary CISL Ferrara
