The FNP-CISL, the CISL pensioners' union, fully shares the reasons that led postal workers to stage a protest last Thursday in front of the Cento post office with the message: "Poste Italiane must not be sold off".
As pensioners, we are very concerned that this operation will result in the closure of a very important PUBLIC SERVICE.
We have already supported this in open letters of June 26 and July 13, which remained unanswered, and we reiterate that the closure of a post office, such as those in Reno Centese, Masi San Giacomo or Montesanto, cannot be left solely to the decision of the judiciary (decision of the Council of State).
As CISL Pensioners, while we reiterate our support for postal workers, we urge the political and administrative sectors to revisit the issue of post offices as an important and indispensable SERVICE for the most vulnerable.
The issue of reorganizing offices cannot be left to Poste Italiane's mere economic expediency. As we have repeatedly stated, the social impact on the local area and the resulting benefits must also be considered.
We ask those with political responsibilities, especially mayors, to reopen this debate with the broadest possible involvement of society.
Our position, therefore, is not just one of solidarity with the workers in the sector, whom we support, but also of defense of important services for pensioners.
