Day to Combat Violence Against Women

Dear all, we are on the eve of yet another November 25th, a day dedicated to combating violence against women, but once again we cannot say we have made any progress.

Even these days, the news reports too many cases of violence and murder perpetrated against women who were once wives, partners, mothers, friends, at the hands of men incapable of respecting them and considering life precious.

Together with local organizations that have always been involved with women, we organized a small demonstration for the November 25th at 6 pm in Piazza Savonarola. We'll read some testimonies from those who have experienced violence firsthand, and we thought it was important to be in the square anyway, to try to get people to reflect for a few minutes on this sad topic. Everyone's commitment is needed so that the relationship between men and women becomes one of equals, and no one thinks they can own or dominate the other!

As the CISL Women's Coordination Committee, together with the Secretariat, we produced the video "How You Were Dressed," which is also available on the CISL Ferrara YouTube channel. I urge you to watch and share it, because challenging stereotypes is the first step towards building new awareness. Finally, the demonstration on November 25th in the square will likely include a delegation of Iranian women, a population currently facing a very difficult civil struggle.

I'm attaching the flyer, hoping to see you in Piazza Venerdì.

Good work everyone.
