The FNP-CISL of Ferrara, in relation to the latest events that have affected the Cassa di Risparmio of Ferrara, expresses its strong opposition to the measures recently taken by the Government which have severely penalised the savers of Ferrara with the cancellation of the shares - including those owned by the Carife Foundation - (while recalling the price of 27 cents, which in any case ensured the participation of the shareholders in the meetings) and the holders of subordinated bonds, the fruit of hard-earned savings and, furthermore, the lack of clarity of the procedures.
It is recalled that the shareholders' meeting of July 2015 had approved the intervention of the Interbank Deposit Protection Fund for 300 million euros, which maintained the functions of the Cassa, with the decisive presence of the FITD in the Board of Directors.
The reasons for the Government's measure are not convincing, the usual hypocrisy "Europe is asking us to do so", in fact up to now we have not seen any official document from the European Union that considers funds coming from a private entity as "state aid".
This affair leads citizens to no longer have any confidence in the world of credit and also in the Bank of Italy which:
– authorized the last issue of shares. The inspection, shortly before, by the Bank of Italy should have ascertained the financial conditions of the Cassa and it would have been appropriate to proceed, already then, to the receivership. Why did this not happen? Incorrect assessments, indifference, incompetence?
– had to strongly support the FITD solution, to what pressure did he give in?
The Government is not free from criticism either, as it has submitted to the interests of a finance that is increasingly of a purely speculative nature with the decree law it issued.
The FNP of Ferrara is close to the defrauded Ferrarese savers, of which many of our members are also part, and to the Carife employees and informs that the CISL Consumers Association – ADICONSUM – has taken action with its lawyers to thoroughly analyze the issue and then organize a meeting with the interested parties.
