The meeting, titled "Religious Freedom in Italy: Between the Constitution and Discrimination. The Cases of the Orthodox Churches and Islam," is based on Article 19 of the Italian Constitution, "everyone has the right to freely profess their religious faith in any form, individually or in association, to propagate it, and to practice it in private or public, provided that these rites are not contrary to morality." The event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, at 7:15 p.m. at the CISL Ferrara headquarters at Corso Piave 60.

This moment of reflection and discussion on freedom of worship in Italy is promoted by the Anolf association. Starting from the rights enshrined in the Constitution, the meeting will then analyze what is actually happening in our country, and how religious minorities are organized and regulated. Migration has significantly changed our society, including religious minorities: this is the case with Islam and the Orthodox churches, two seemingly different entities that share many characteristics resulting from their minority status.

Speakers during the evening will include Alessandro Vanoli, professor of Mediterranean history at the University of Bologna, Reverend Father Vasile Jora of the Romanian Orthodox Church of Ferrara, and Hassan Samid, ANLFO collaborator and president of the Young Muslims Association of Ferrara. A free buffet will be served at the end of the evening for all attendees.
